According to MMA salaries, the amount can be broken down into $2 million base salary, $600,000 pay-per-view payments, and $42,000 sponsorship income. Pereira is said to be earning $332,000. Pereira (7-1 in MMA, 4-0 in UFC) stopped the then-champion with a technical knockout in the fifth round, defeating Adesanya for the third time in his martial arts career. The loss was Adesanya’s first middleweight and his first interruption loss. Last Stylebender had won the fight in the early rounds…but he was caught in the final sequence of the fight with Pereira. The loss meant Adesanya lost his UFC middleweight title to Pereira after winning the belt in October 2019 over Robert Whittaker. The long-established couple had previously fought in kickboxing twice, with the Brazilian winning both times, most recently against Adesanya in 2017. After losing his first career loss to Jan Blachovic in March, Adesanya was on a three-game winning streak with wins over Jared Canonnier, Whitaker and Marvin Vettori.
