Oil marketers issued a severe warning to the general public on Thursday, advising them to anticipate purchasing petrol at “any price.”
Under the direction of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, marketers claimed to the media that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited refused to provide its members with products and that they instead purchased them for N205 from third parties.
Mike Osatuyi, IPMAN’s National Controller of Operations, told the media that members of the association had purchased products for N205 and would add N13 for transportation.
The NNPC won’t provide us with fuel.Because the landing cost to our stations is N218 per liter, how much do you expect us to sell? We buy from third parties and can sell at any price. Therefore, fuel prices will vary by region, so the general public can anticipate them,” he stated.
Garba Deen Mohammed, NNPCL’s spokesperson, did not respond when contacted.
On Wednesday, the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria’s spokesperson, Clement Isong, informed the media that the organization had held a logistics meeting with the NNPC.
