Newcastle beat Chelsea 1-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday and they finished third in the Premier League standings. Both teams were in a stalemate in the first half, with the hosts possessing 57 per cent of the ball.The hosts continued on in the second half with a superb finish from Joseph Willock in the 67th minute to move them up to 30 points. Newcastle have not lost since his August, but Brighton & Hove lost to Albion and Arsenal he lost 4-1, 1-0 and Graham Potter’s loss to the Magpies was his third straight loss. It was the first time in 21 years that Newcastle finished in the top four at Christmas, when the Premier League takes a break from the World Cup in Qatar.
