The Okpuitumo community in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has stated that it will not be supporting Dr. Sam Egwu, a former governor of the state and senator representing Ebonyi North Zone, for Senate in 2023.

The community also claimed that the recent social media post claiming to have tipped the former governor for a third term in 2023 was the work of liars and ought to be ignored.
Nwibo Pius, the community’s Town Union president, made this statement at a press conference on Friday in Abakaliki, the state capital.
He stated, “I have always been a member of the All Progressives Congress.”Additionally, the Okpuitumo community as a whole has resolved to vote for the APC.Our people have faith and trust in this party, the APC.
“The APC has candidates for governorship, senatorial office, the House of Representatives, and the House of Assembly. Therefore, how can we move on to a different party?
“As a result, the false claim that I have endorsed Sam Egwu, the current senator representing Ebonyi North Zone and former governor of the state, was made on social media by miscreants.
I did not support Egwu. There is absolutely no reason for us to support him.Since becoming a senator, he has done nothing for our people, and even the transformer he brought to our community is not working.
“Rather than supporting Emmanuel Uguru for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in 2023, we have endorsed our own Onyekachi Nwebonyi for the Ebonyi North Zone.
“Therefore, no one should associate me or the community with any social media post claiming that I have promised to give Egwu and other People’s Democratic Party candidates a lot of support in 2023.”It is a major lie. This determination is shared by the Okpuitumo community, and we will adhere to it.
