ECOWAS donates facilities to boost Nigeria’s fruits export

The Project Coordination Unit of the Economic Community of West African States has provided the Federal Government with fruit fly surveillance materials and phytosanitary equipment to assist in restarting the export of selected Nigerian fruits.
The technology, according to ECOWAS, would lessen the number of fruit flies that infest Nigerian farms and lessen the loss of fruits and vegetables across the nation.
This was made public by ECOWAS Commissioner Massandje Touré on Thursday while presenting the equipment to the Federal Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development in Abuja.
He explained that the donation of equipment and materials was intended to improve the surveillance system’s and FMARD’s phytosanitary inspection teams’ performance in fruit flies monitoring and control.
