CBN eyes more grounded advanced economy, eNaira becomes 190%

The Central Bank of Nigeria is focusing on a more grounded computerized economy to help the development of the monetary frameworks.

This is even as the advanced money, eNaira, records 190.1 percent development in exchanges comparative with its level when it was sent off on October 25, 2021.

Talking at the Central Bank of Nigeria Leader Workshop named Digitalisation of Money and Monetary Policy in Nigeria” held in Abuja on Wednesday, Deputy Governor, Economic Policy, CBN, Dr Kingsley Obiora, said the volume of eNaira in circulation was N2.10bn, with 3,320 merchants successfully registered on the platform across the country, including Shoprite, Sahad Stores, A.A. Rano, among others.

The deputy governor said the CBN was primed to reach lofty heights in the adoption and integration of its digital currency in collaboration with the Federal Government and other relevant stakeholders, as it kept on opening new works and conceivable outcomes in working with decrease in real money handling costs and making a proficient installment biological system in Nigeria.
